LBC Race Postponement / Cancellation Policy
Weather:
As Race Organisers we want to put up the event as much as you want to run it, but we also have the responsibility to the participants to take the circumstances into account. Therefore if the weather turns out such that we feel it would be irresponsible to start or continue the race, we reserve the right to cancel the race. The following weather warning signals will be clear indications that would have us cancel the race or consider very carefully:
For more information on the weather signals see here: Hong Kong Government Weather Website
There will be no refund in the case of a race cancellation due to weather circumstances. We will do our best to reschedule the race, but in most cases this will be very hard to achieve on a short notice.
- T8 signal. If still on or put up at 2 hrs before race start, the race will be cancelled. Always.
- T3 signal. If still on or put up 15 minutes before race start, the decision to start will be made on course conditions and other prevailing weather factors (including the likelyhood of it changing to T8 during the event). We will base any postponement or cancellation on the key course marshals in various positions on the course and possibly forerunners to provide feedback before the event start.
- Thunderstorm Warning. If Thunderstorm warning is in place 15 minutes before the start, the start will be postponed until thunderstorm warning has been dropped and thunderstorms have passed over race course area. If feasable, the race will then be restarted at later time in same day. If Thunderstorm Warning goes up during event, the participants will be asked to finish at next checkpoint for the official finish time and then, unless so directed by the CP leader of an alternate race course, the participants will have to make their way back to start/finish where their bags are. For all our races, cash/octopus card is mandatory equipment, specifically for this reason.
- Black Rain Storm Warning. If still on or put up at 2 hrs before the race start, the race will be cancelled. Always.
- Red Rain Storm Warning. If still on or put up 15 minutes before race start, the decision to start will be made on course conditions and other prevailing weather factors. We will base any postponement or cancellation on the key course marshals in various positions on the course and possibly forerunners to provide feedback before the event start.
